Benjamin Netanyahu has won a bitterly contested election against Benny Gantz and is reconfirmed for the fifth time as prime minister after opposition leader Gantz conceded defeat. Despite accusations of corruption and fraud, the Israeli people has re-asserted confidence in the outgoing leader who will soon also become the longest serving prime minister in Israel’s history. Turning to the results, the Likud party won with 26.47% of the votes while Gantz’s Blue and White party captured 26.11% of the vote.
